The aPOPcalypse is coming September 18th!

OK, so the world isn't actually going to end, sorry to scare you, but now that we've got your attention, check this out! The Head Shop and Brunch! Magazine are getting together for another show, this time at the ARTery in sometimes sunny Costa Mesa, CA, and we've got one hell of a damn show for you.

Featuring the work of Dennis Larkins, Shawn Sandfer, Christie Yuri-Noh, Virginia Valdez, Zack Bowen, Andy Anderson, Brian Lucett and Jenna McHale this show will show you a thing or two about survival.

Crumpled $1 - Christie Yuri-Noh
As you're all aware, the apocalypse is fast approaching. Whether you believe what the Mayans said or not, we all need to be prepared - and what better way to get prepared than by joining The Head Shop, the freaks from Brunch! Magazine, and a slew of local artists for the opening night of aPOPcalypse - apocalyptic art, the smooth musical stylings of DJs Malcolmesque, DJ Lando Calrissian and DJ Jesse Bobby, plus wine and beer (while supplies last), and enough snack foods to survive for several hours after any apocalyptic fate.

The apocalypse won't really knock us not hopefully, the show will be up for two full weeks starting opening night, Saturday, September 18th and extending to October 3rd.

So remember friends, don't worry about the end of the world, you've got the aPOPcalypse to look forward to!

Come on Down!

We are so excited to release our new design series: The Bobs, featuring Bob Dylan, Bob Marley and Bob Barker. We would love to celebrate all our hard work with our friends and fans. Over the past couple of months we've been working with two of our favorite people Brian and Andy from Brunch! Magazine. We believe it was fate, that night we met these two strapping young men at one of our art/craft show events at Hibbleton. Ever since then it's been meeting after meeting, beer after beer of hatching plans for ways to collaborate on our little side projects:
The Head Shop and Brunch! Magazine

I contributed a few illustrations to the upcoming issue of Brunch! in return for an inside cover advertisement. This ad is our first, and very special one because Shawn and I worked on the ad together. He worked it out with his Photoshop skills and also provided the classic photo shown below. We would like to thank Shawn's Granny Nanny for letting us use her photo. Thanks Grace!

Don't miss this event. We will be giving away magazines, tees and custom made logo pint glasses throughout the event. Be the first to see our new diggs and Brunch!'s best issue to date.
Live music, booze, and art.

Plus The Head Shop's induction into the Fullerton Chamber of Commerce! Be sure to show up at 8:30 to be at our ribbon
cutting ceremony.

... as Bob Barker would say, "Come on down!"

Runnin' With The Ponies at Pink Parlour

On Sunday March 14th, we packed up and headed to Santa Anita Racetrack to attend our very first Pink Parlour Festival. Beautiful mountains and fresh air surrounded the track. Hot pink pampadours, fish net stockings and tattoos were plentiful. It was definitely one of the biggest shows we've been involved with and it brought in a friendly, eclectic crowd.

We met a lot of cool vendors as well, here is a list of our favorites of the day:

The Head Shop Goes Pink!

Ladies and gents! Save the date: Sunday, March 14th, for The Pink Parlour Festival - a one-of-a-kind event where crafty women of the world unite.
I have to admit I'm feeling a little Rosie the Riveter-ish, with this event being specifically for women. I know what you're thinking, there's going to be a high demand for these:

I was thinking that too. Gentlemen, don't let this run you off, the festival has much more to offer, including live music, djs, food and drinks and tons of beautiful, free-thinking girlies - it's your typical day at the racetrack. We hope you'll come by our booth and say hello.

Home Sweet Fullerton #3: Matador Cantina

Just about every Tuesday you will find me at Matador Cantina. They offer $1.25 street tacos and $2 Coronas, plus live music! I'll have to admit my first visit was not a satisfying one for a vegan. All of my friends ordered their tacos and I ordered a veggie taco, only to find the veggies were onions and bellpeppers only. Luckily for me, the management at Matador is top class. The manager stopped by our table to see how our meal was. I spoke up about the need for vegan tacos on the menu. And much to my surprise the next week there were vegan tacos on the menu; soy taco meat, peppers, salsa atop two corn tortillas. Yum. I've been going back ever since. Not only am I able to order vegan tacos, but I can sub out meat on nachos, the Matador taco and other dishes. In addition to the delicious food, Matador offers a laid back ambiance, great for meeting up with friends after work. The bar is chock full of specialty spirits and beers that will make your mouth water. Stop by Matador any day of the week for great food, drinks and music. And remember to speak up for what you want and I'm sure the managers will do the best to serve your needs.
